Itinerary Description By Day
Day 1: Rongai Gate To Rongai Cave
- Drive from your hotel in Moshi and transfer to Rongai gate for registration processes
- Start climbing through coffee and maize plantations leading into the dense rainforest
- Proceed with the climb to reach Rongai cave for dinner and overnight stay
Day 2: Rongai Cave To Kikelewa Camp
- Hike from the rainforest into the moorland zone while admiring beautiful views
- Proceed with the trail to stop at Rongai’s second cave for a lunch break
- The path finally leads to Kikelewa camp in the evening for dinner and overnight stay
Day 3: Kikelewa Camp To Mawenzi Tarn
- Trek into the Alpine zone for a steep climb towards Mawenzi tarn
- Arrive in the afternoon where you will have lunch
- Set camp and have time resting and recuperating for the next day
- Dinner and sleep at the hotel
Day 4: Acclimatization Day At Mawenzi Tarn
- Spend the day acclimatizating which allows your body getting used to high altitude
- Explore the landscape while heading to the Saddle towards Camel’s Back
- Return back to the camp in time for lunch
- Take time resting and gaining energy for the next day
Day 5: Mawenzi Tarn To Kibo Hut
- Climb upwards the saddle formed between the two stunning peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi
- Enjoy the magnificent scenery displayed by Kibo
- Proceed with the trail to reach Kibo hut in the evening
- Dinner and overnight stay at the camp
- Its advised to take much water and sleep early by 07:00pm
Day 6: Ascend To Uhuru Peak
- In the midnight guide will awake you and have breakfast with some hot tea and biscuits in arranging to get you prepared for the summit attempts
- You will trek in a north-western course through dense scree toward Stella Point, arriving there in about five to seven hours
- At Stella Point you may rest if required before taking on another one to two hour hike along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak
- Have a magnificent views as you stand on top of Africa
- After taking as much pictures as you can, you will leave behind the shiny glaciers and snow-white peak and make your way back down to Barafu Camp
- At Barafu Camp you will have time to grasp your breath before heading further down to Mweka Gate (3,080m)
- Have a delicious dinner and an overnight stay
Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
- After an energetic breakfast and a parting ceremony you will start your final descent to Mweka Gate where you will collect your summit certificate
- A relaxed two to three hours walk will take you through the flourishing rainforest
- Reaching Mweka Gate you will meet our transfer driver waiting for you, who will take you back to lodge/hotel in Moshi
- The rest of the day is for you to enjoy a long shower, leap in the swimming pool or just relax at the bar or explore the town of Moshi
