Itinerary Description

Day 01  Off to Zanzibar

Travel/activity: Transfer to Arusha International Airport for your flight to Zanzibar. Transfer to the hotel for dinner and overnight after arrival.

To kick off your Zanzibar visit, here’s some history: When the Portuguese arrived in 1498, they discovered a series of independent towns on the coast inhabited by Arabs but not politically linked to Arabia. Their relations with these Arabs were mostly hostile, but by the sixteenth century, they had firmly established their power and were ruling with the assistance of tributary Arab sultans. This system was in place until 1631, when the Sultan of Mombasa massacred the European residents.

Following this educational tour, we have a sumptuous lunch at our guides’ home, where you can sample the spices and fruits.

We will transport you to your beach resort after lunch.

You pass through Jozani Forest, the last remaining habitat of the rare endemic Red Colobus Monkey. You walk through Jozani Chwaka National Park with a local guide, looking for rare monkeys. You can also walk down the boardwalk to the fascinating Mangrove Ecosystem.

The beach that surrounds this area, which is located on the island’s northernmost point, is truly stunning. Those who come here will find azure waters and white sands. The only disadvantage is that many of the hotels are perched on the coral cliffs that run north from the village and, as a result, lose their beaches at high tide. However, in general, this is not a problem, and with a small backpacker community in the village, this is a great place to go if you want to get out of the hotel for a drink or two.

Day 04  Zanzibar Beach Holiday

Breakfast at the hotel is a travel/activity. A full day of relaxation on the beach of North Nungwi, Zanzibar, the magnificent spice island of the Indian Ocean. Unguja and Pemba are the two main islands. Various cultures have influenced Zanzibar to become what it is today over centuries. Sumerians, Assyrians, Egyptians, Phonecians, Indians, Chinese, Persians, Portuguese, Omani Arabs, Dutch, and British all settled here at some point and influenced the local culture, resulting in the current fusion.

Day 05  Zanzibar – Dar Es Saalam – Departure

Breakfast at the hotel and relaxation at the beach. Pick up in the afternoon and transfer to the airport for your flight to Dar es Salaam, where you will connect to your international flight back home.
